Updated: Aug 1, 2025

The Idaho State Department of Education's Advanced Opportunities program allows public school students in grades 7-12 to personalize their high school education and get a head start on their future. Each eligible student receives $4,625 to cover expenses related to dual credit courses, workforce training, certification exams, and Advanced Placement (AP) programs.

Getting Started: Students interested in the program should meet with their school counselor or college and career advisor. Students will also need to create an Advanced Opportunities account to manage their funds, submit payment requests, and track their payment status.

  • Overload courses: Up to $225 per course.

  • Dual credits: Up to $75 per credit.

  • Exams: Various college-credit bearing or career-technical certification exams.

  • Workforce training: Regionally approved workforce training courses offered at Idaho public colleges.
