The Idaho State Department of Education's Advanced Opportunities program allows public school students in grades 7-12 to personalize their high school education and get a head start on their future. Each eligible student receives $4,625 to cover expenses related to dual credit courses, workforce training, certification exams, and Advanced Placement (AP) programs.
Getting Started: Students interested in the program should meet with their school counselor or college and career advisor. Together, they can explore available options and develop a personalized career pathway plan. Students will also need to create an Advanced Opportunities account to manage their funds, submit payment requests, and track their payment status.
Overview for Students/Parents: The program funds can be utilized for a variety of educational opportunities, including:
Overload courses: Up to $225 per course.
Dual credits: Up to $75 per credit.
Exams: Various college-credit bearing or career-technical certification exams.
Workforce training: Regionally approved workforce training courses offered at Idaho public colleges.
Early Graduation Scholarships are available for students who graduate High School early and choose to attend an Idaho public post-secondary institution.
