Welcome Back! Welcome back 2025/26 Parents and students: Welcome back to JHS for another great year of High School. There are so many things that we will be able to accomplish together this last year and I am excited to see what heights we will be able to reach with the coming of this new year! Remember, we are “One Team, One Town, and One Family”! Here are a few of the goals we have for our school this year: 1. Everything starts with Attendance, we are setting a goal of having all of our students reach 95% attendance this year! Let's work hard to be on time and attentive throughout the day. Great attendance translates into Great achievement! 2. Emphasis on the ISAT tests. These tests are used to give us a benchmark of where we are in our delivery of the curriculum. We are excited to improve our scores and show off our hard work. 3. Improve safety and security in the building by requiring all students and staff to wear the ID badges at all times while in the building. Students will have ID badges ready for them at the start of the school year. Please wear them throughout the day while you are inside the building. a. Provide numbered parking spaces for all students and staff to help relieve some of the congestion we have in the mornings with students looking for a place to park. This should help cut down on some of our students being late to first hour. If you need a parking spot please see Dr. Walters 5. Continue to improve our facilities on campus a. Brand new Hall of Fame digital display is being planned to open at the start of the year. This will be located directly across from the concession stand. b. The floors have been cleaned, waxed, and ready for students. Classrooms are prepared and teachers are rearing to get the school year started. 6. Academic recognition hallway and celebrations (Academic “J”’s) for students to put on a letter jacket for earning honor roll recognition. b. Improvements to playing fields and stadiums. Lights on the soccer field Brand new Track Resurfaced gym floors Remodeling project finished in the Mens locker room c. Continuing to upgrade and update classroom furniture (desks and tables) to allow for greater collaboration and movement in the classroom. 6. Preparing for more Dual Cedit and Advanced Placements classes to be offered at JHS. Crossing bridges is now a CSI dual credit class. Parents, if you would like to be involved in helping with any or all of our goals, please reach out to Mr. Tracy and he will get you started. Advancement takes all of us and we are looking forward to partnering with you in helping make our school even better than it already is. Thanks for all your support and let’s get to work! GO TIGERS! Opening Assembly brought to you by the JHS STUCO A Huge thank you to IDAHO MILK PRODUCTS for your support of Jerome High School! This amazing piece of equipment is called a Laminar Flow Hood. It is used to create a sterile work environment for various types of microbiology and DNA work. When turned on the hood creates a curtain of air that prevents floating bacteria and contaminants from entering the cabinet. Once internal surfaces are cleaned with a sterilant, the work area is clear of substances that might contaminate the work. You can then open containers and samples without fear of the experiment being ruined. We anticipate that students will be able to start using the hood when we start teaching about DNA technology. I am inspired by their dedication and work ethic throughout the year! Speech STATE CHAMPIONS! 2024 Daily announcments: PHONE POLICY: NO CELL PHONES – Purpose: To establish Jerome High School’s philosophy concerning the use of electronic devices (specifically, cell phones, smart watches, and other electronic devices) during the school day. Policy: Jerome High School Student Handbook, pg. 8-9, Section 20. This policy is intended to clarify the Jerome High School electronic equipment policy on school property and to ensure that personal electronic devices do not impede the learning process, safety, privacy, or well being of the students attending Jerome High School. Devices include but are not limited to, cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, recording devices, smart glasses, or electronic video players. Cell phone usage in a high school setting is often a distraction impeding personal growth and academic learning, as such, the use of such devices is considered a privilege, and not a right; therefore, It is the belief that the unrestricted use of electronic devices causes more harm than benefit to students. Use of electronic devices in classrooms will be prohibited inside the classroom without direct permission from a teacher. Teachers have the right to require students to put the devices away. Students are welcome to have the devices with them throughout the day and use them during passing time, before school, lunch, and after school. Students who need to be excused to leave the classroom will be asked to leave the device in the classroom. As a general rule, the student should leave the device with the teacher for safekeeping until they return to the classroom. 1st Offense: The teacher will warn the student in class and may take the phone to return at the end of class Teacher will log the incident in PowerSchool. 2nd Offense: The teacher will send the electronic device to the office along with a contract to sign. It will be kept until the end of the day to be given back to the student. Teacher and admin will log the incident. 3rd Offense: The teacher will send the phone to the office with a contract for an administrator and parent signature. The teacher and administration will log the incident. It is a disciplinary issue and additional consequences may be given at the discretion of administration. During today's advanced robotics session, JHS students were privileged to receive a visit from Mr. Shane Humphries, an esteemed engineer and JSD board member. Mr. Humphries graciously collaborated with each team, providing valuable insights and advice to enhance their device-building endeavors, essential for scoring points on their respective teams. This unique opportunity allowed our students to engage directly with an experienced engineer, benefiting from his wealth of knowledge to refine their devices. Thank you, Mr. Humphries, for sharing your knowledge. Social Studies class working hard to understand the Cold war! Fun Fridays in French and AVID Guest speakers from Top Gun Trucking talking about CDLS and employment oppertunities The Foods and Nutrition class was working on a “Crime Scene” lab in class today.
