Request for P.E. Credit

For Participation in IHSAA Sponsored or Club Sport

Dear Parents and Students,

Students participating in an IHSAA recognized activity or club sport recognized by Jerome School District can receive credit upon parental approval. The credit will fulfill a P.E. requirement or elective requirement if the student already has the two P.E. credits needed for graduation. Only one credit throughout the 4 years of high school may be earned in this manner. The participant will receive a PASS grade upon satisfactory completion. This grade will become part of their permanent record, but will not be calculated into the student’s GPA. To earn a passing grade a student must participate in 90% of practices, games, etc. and complete the season in good standing. Return this form to the counseling office. Forms must be received by December 15th for fall sports, by March 15th for winter sports, and by June 15th for spring sports. (For graduating seniors, the form must be turned in by May 15th.)

The following paragraph is from the Idaho Administrative Code regarding P.E. credit for sports participation.

IDAPA 08.02.03.105.01.i – Students participating in one (1) season in any sport recognized by the Idaho High School Activities Association or club sport recognized by the local school district, or eighteen (18) weeks of a sport recognized by the local school district may choose to substitute participation up to one (1) credit of physical education. Students must show mastery of the content standards for Physical Education in a format provided by the school district.

The Jerome School District will consider the following IHSAA sponsored sports and locally recognized club sports

eligible for a P.E. credit for participation: Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Rodeo, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
